Union Siblings,

Today the bargaining committee met for the fifth round of negotiations. The County made their initial proposals to the Union. They made 20 proposals here are some of the most impactful proposals:

  • 3 year contract with an initial 3% raise the pay period following ratification, 2% in June 2024 and 2% in June 2025.
  • Eliminating open window and opening up for employees to request schedule modifications throughout the year
  • Eliminate, MOU language regarding merit increases that says any merit increases beyond step 10 will only be at the discretion of the agency head.
  • Add language regarding extensions of probation periods when an employee is put on paid administrative leave
  • Adopt a working group with the County regarding leave, provisions and clarifying language, regarding leaves of absences
  • Bereavement leave- extend bereavement leave past six months, but no more than 12 months upon written approval from your supervisor
  • Exchange Columbus day with Native American day
  • Grievances alleging discrimination will be referred to the county equal employment opportunity office.
  • County health insurance plans will be restructured to include both active county employees and eligible county retirees, with the requirement that the retiree health insurance premiums for non-Medicare retirees exceed the active employee health insurance premium by 20%
  • Update MOU language regarding extra help and working retirees

Your bargaining team will be meeting next week to counter the counties 20 proposals. These are not final proposals nor are we voting on any agreements at this time. This is only the County’s first submission to the Union. Please email us your feedback by clicking the button below.
